Autograph letter signed : Higham near N. Eaton, to an unidentified recipient, 1739 Sept. 5.

Thanking him and Mr. Edwards for their trouble over "a certain Poem" [probably "The Ruins of Rome" (1740)], and explaining that he has been distracted " ... by my new Plantation here--by Building, removing, and rocking the cradle of a crying Infant in the fresh fears and pleasures of a new made Father." He admits that "Time was that your Friend [Dyer] had too much Pride to Suffer any Publication of his crude verses--but he now desires it and has Sad good reasons to do so."
